More than 5,000 people will register for the opportunity to ride beginning in mid-January. Along each PMC route, cyclists have access to waterstops that provide food, water, and bathroom facilities, as well as medical and mechanical assistance.

Volunteers are needed for each of the five start and finish points (called major hub sites). Within these hub sites, numerous crews run different areas of the site such as food, luggage, bike parking, etc. In addition to the major hub sites, volunteers are needed to staff the waterstops (which are set up approximately every 20 miles along the routes) and the EDIC terminal in Boston where the Ferry arrives.
