Fundraising Parties
A fundraising party is an effective (and fun) way to increase your fundraising by bringing the PMC to life for your contributors. Your donors are more likely to sponsor you at a higher level once they have a better understanding of what the PMC is all about. Your contributors will discover what a huge commitment you are making and how their contributions will support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Fundraising parties can be of any size or style. The first things you should decide are the date, location, and type of your event. Good ideas include house parties, a neighborhood yard sale with part of the proceeds going to your ride, a larger event at a bigger venue, golf tournaments, wine tastings, casino nights, auctions, or a home party through a company the specializes in at-home sales. Many companies that specialize in merchandising through home sales are happy to pass on a percentage of your sales to a charity of your choice. Please let us know if you have success with other types of parties to help with your fundraising.

The PMC is able to provide PMC, Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute banners and yearbooks for your party. Email us within two weeks of your party to request banners & yearbooks to be picked up or mailed. It is also a good idea to print out copies of the PMC Fact Sheet. to hand out.

Printouts of photos from our site make
great decorations for a party. You can view photos at our photo gallery. Use the left menu to select different event photos. You may download medium resolution photos for free by following the instructions in the “Help” menu at the top right.

Raffles are a good way to generate funds at a party. Local businesses may be willing to donate gift certificates. The PMC’s 501c3 certificate proving nonprofit status can be found here. 50/50 raffles are also popular. To provide a receipt for tax purpose for the business that donated an item you may printout the PMC's 501c3, on the second page list the date, description of the item that was donated and amount the donation is worth.

Silent or live auctions are a great way to generate funds. With the right crowd and an experienced auctioneer, a live auction will generate the most money.

Give your guests the opportunity to donate at your event. Guests may donate by check or credit card. Make credit card donations easy by setting up a "Donation Station" with a laptop or iPad open to your donation page http://www.pmc.org/egifts/XX1234 (make sure to insert your eGift ID in place of XX1234).
