Our daughter Michaella was just 16 months old and baby Bella just 7 days old, when we learned that my wife Maura had a rare incurable cancer that spread to her liver. It was a devastating time for all of us. Maura’s biggest worry was that the girls would be motherless at such young ages. My biggest fear was being a father without my best friend by my side. Several surgeries and prior chemotherapies have been unable to shrink her tumors. Maura is now starting her seventh chemotherapy drug. We are hoping that this drug will save her life.
Through riding 3 previous Pan Mass Challenges, and the enormous generosity of friends and family from all over the world, we have raised $41,378. All of this money has gone to a research lab at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to find a cure for GIST. (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors) This year, we hope to raise $43,000. Again all of this money will be specifically earmarked for GIST research. We hope this money will help find a cure for GIST in Maura’s lifetime.
Thank you.
