Sean Saganey's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Sadly this year, instead of riding in my dad’s honor, it will be in his memory.  As many know he passed away last October from complications stemming from Multiple Myeloma. It’s cancers like myeloma that need to be researched more than ever.  It’s inoperable but controllable and it now needs to be curable.  I also ride in memory of Mary Coveney, Jimmy Langmeyer, Pat Stedman, and in honor of other survivors; Ralph, Mark, Julie, Jeff, Cindy and of course my main driving force, Patti.

These are just a few people I know that had or have cancer.   The list seems to get longer so my efforts to raise money for the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund becomes more important.  This will be my 13th year participating in the Pan Mass Challenge.  I’ve really come to love the ride.  It gives me two days to reflect on how lucky I have been and how fortunate my family is to live near one of the world’s best cancer hospitals.  The PMC allows me to participate in trying to find a cure for a disease that affects everyone one way or another.  And it is still my belief that all funds from these events will one day find a cure.

I'm riding with Team Xaverian, which funnels the donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Outcome Clinic at Dana Farber. I will be riding from Sturbridge Mass to P-Town, 192 miles.

Thanks once again for your support over the past years.  Sean
